San Miguel's plan for EDSA

Ramon Ang ( SMC president and chief operating officer ) is proposing to build an "elevated EDSA" toll road, that may include a bus rapid transit system to solve traffic congestion.  RSA said the elevated road would be built on top of EDSA and would stretch from Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City to possibly Balintawak in Quezon City.

There’s been lots of suggestions lately on how to solve the traffic situation on EDSA, but by far this has been the most reasonable of them all, because this will fix the problem long term and not simply band aid the situation. But this proposed “elevated EDSA” will also cause enormous traffic if it were to become a reality, construction of such a project would take years to complete.

SMC “elevated EDSA” suggestion is for a toll road that would have 10 lanes, with 5 lanes each on both northbound and southbound directions. The elevated EDSA may also include dedicated lanes for a bus rapid transit system.

The SMC chief said they plan to release more details about the project and submit the proposal to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) next week.

What do you think of SMC’s proposal to fix the EDSA nightmare?
